Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know about Kalyta before you start: what it is, which exams it covers, how much it costs, and how the AI tutor actually works.
What is Kalyta?
Kalyta is an adaptive AI tutor for exam prep. It explains the why behind each concept, adapts to how you are doing as you practice, and gives you full-length, format-accurate exam rehearsals under real timing. There is one app per exam family, on the web and, where the app has shipped to the stores, on iOS and Android.
Which exams and courses does Kalyta cover?
Kalyta covers three families of exams, each in its own app:
- AP: AP Physics 1, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science A, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Microeconomics are live. AP Physics 2, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: E&M, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Psychology, and AP Human Geography are in progress.
- College admissions: the Digital SAT and the ACT, both live.
- Engineering licensure: the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam. FE Civil is live; FE Mechanical, FE Electrical and Computer, FE Chemical, FE Environmental, FE Industrial and Systems, and FE Other Disciplines are in progress.
The exams page has the current list, what each course covers unit by unit, and where to download its app.
Is Kalyta free to start?
Yes. You can start free with seven days of practice and no credit card required. You only pay if you decide to continue after your free days.
How does the AI tutor work?
As you practice, Kalyta watches where you struggle and steers your questions toward the concepts that will help most. Every question comes with a worked, step-by-step explanation, and you can ask follow-up questions to have the tutor walk you through the idea in plain language.
Does Kalyta grade written or free-response answers?
On the AP exams, yes. AP papers have a free-response section, so in the AP app you can write a full answer and get point-by-point feedback against what a real grader looks for. The Digital SAT, the ACT and the FE exam have no written section, so there is nothing of that kind to grade and those apps do not offer it.
How much does Kalyta cost?
Pricing is per exam family, and one subscription unlocks every course in that family:
- AP: $12.99 per month, covering every Kalyta AP course.
- Digital SAT and ACT: $17.99 per month, covering both tests.
- FE Exam: $24.99 per month, covering all seven NCEES disciplines.
Each family is a separate app and a separate subscription, so you only pay for the exam you are actually sitting.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time, and you will keep access through the end of the period you have paid for.
Do I get a predicted score?
On the exams that publish a score, yes, and it is an estimate to guide your studying rather than an official result. AP rehearsals show an estimated 1 to 5, and Digital SAT and ACT rehearsals show an estimated scaled score. It is grounded in your real performance on Kalyta and updates as you practice, and it is not a College Board, College Board AP, SAT or ACT result.
The FE exam is different. NCEES reports it as pass or fail and publishes no cut score, so there is no honest number to predict and Kalyta does not invent one. An FE rehearsal shows exactly how many questions you got right, unit by unit, so you can see where you stand.
What devices can I use Kalyta on?
Every Kalyta app runs on the web, and your progress syncs across devices, so you can study on your phone and pick up where you left off on a laptop. Each family has its own address and its own app:
- AP: https://ap.app.kalytalabs.com
- Digital SAT and ACT: https://uca.app.kalytalabs.com
- FE Exam: https://fe.app.kalytalabs.com
All three run in any modern browser today, and the iOS and Android apps are on the way.
